Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on the 26th of March in 1991. She's an American musician and singer. She was the first artist to be signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. In October 21st, 2016 she dropped Pho, her debut EP on the label Dreamville Records. That was the day she first gained the attention of her peers. Shea Butter Baby her debut album was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox first uploaded music online in 2012. She released her debut album Ariography and debut mixtape in 2013 five Finger Discount. In 2014, she continued to upload her music via the internet including her independently released single Bound. In 2015, she appeared on Omen's Elephant Eyes Album on Sweat it out on 21st July. J. Cole was interested by her talent and was looking to work in conjunction with Rihanna. The news was released on December 8, that she was signed to Dreamville Records. In the album Revenge of the Dreamers II She was on the track Backseat with Cozz. She released Pho, her debut EP on Oct 21, 2016. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performer for J. Cole on his track Change in 2017. She also performed on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. The singer also performed in the music videos Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus along with Bas and her labelmates. The 16th of July, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanied music video on the 5th of September. Then, on the 9th November the singer released two more singles, titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). In November 2013, she released her debut album No One as well as Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang together with Cole on the soundtrack to Creed II on 16 November. It then came out as a standalone single in February 2019 to coincide with her debut album. In February, her music video to the song was released. The song has received more than 3 million YouTube views in just one week. In support of the track She toured with 6LACK during December 2018 on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
